The Evolution of Studio 31

Every business has its story, and Studio 31’s journey is one I’m really proud of. What began in my kitchen and living room has turned into a full-fledged photography studio at Eade Studios in North London. This is the story of how Studio 31 came to be, and how I transformed a tiny home setup into a creative space that now serves the London community.

The Early Days: Starting in My Living Room

Like many self-starters, I launched Studio 31 with just a camera, a laptop, and a lot of passion. My kitchen and living room became my makeshift studio. With limited space and basic equipment, I had to get creative. The support of my amazing housemates was invaluable during those early months, and I’ll forever be grateful for them indulging me in all my ideas.

Despite the challenges, those early days were incredibly rewarding. Every photoshoot, every client, and every moment taught me something new. In these beginnings I honed my skills and developed a new found passion for photography that continues to drive me forward.

After a few successful weekends of taking over the living space and welcoming willing participants into my home, I knew it was time to find a permanent home for Studio 31. It was clear that a more dedicated space would allow me to take the business to the next level.

The Next Step: Finding the Perfect Space

As demand for my photography grew, I knew it was time to move beyond my living room. That’s when I decided to check out a unit at Eade Studios, just a stone’s throw away in the Harringay Warehouse District. This creative hub in North London provided the professional environment I needed to take Studio 31 to the next level, marking the start of a new chapter where I could offer a top-tier photography experience and push my creativity further.

A Creative Space for Growth

When I got the keys, the real work began. Between building changing rooms, setting up equipment, and working another job, I spent every spare moment I had getting the space ready. After all my effort, I was finally ready to welcome my first client, marking a milestone in Studio 31’s journey.

With the basics in place, I focused on elevating the Studio 31 experience. I invested in new lighting and accessories, then spent the next month scouring marketplaces for additional props, backdrops, and gear. Eade Studios provided the perfect space for growth, allowing me to expand my options and create a dynamic environment for a wider range of shoots. It wasn’t just about more space—it was about offering a more personalized, professional service for every client.

Branching Out: Testing New Creative Boundaries

The new space has given me the freedom to experiment beyond headshots and try out bigger collaborative shoots. I began with a few fashion-inspired collaborations, testing the space’s potential and bringing new energy to my portfolio. Working with models, designers, and creatives, I explored different styles and setups that the larger studio made possible.

Following that, I’ve also decided to branch into fitness and sports photography, using the space to experiment with creative lighting and setups. This allowed me to capture the energy of athletes and fitness enthusiasts. This is new territory for me, but I’m excited to see where it takes me and to continue exploring these new opportunities.
